Types of therapies offered

Person Centred Counselling

This is my initial training. It aims to offer a non-judgmental approach where you are encouraged to set and understand your own goals. We work on the relationship between us in order to help therapy work. You will be heard and understood whilst being contained in your current emotional state.

Solution Focused Therapy

Solution Focused Therapy is a goal oriented therapy where we use specific questions to work towards your goals. The approach is less problem oriented than other approaches and aims to help you understand and examine how you are able to overcome your current issues. 


Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapy for trauma, traumatic memories and PTSD. It can also work on fears, OCD, phobias and pain management. We will use bilateral stimulations to combat the memory patterns surrounding the trauma. In this approach, traumas can be large events such as war or physical assault to smaller events such as bullying and difficult relationships. 

Compassion Focused Therapy

Those who are currently suffering with mental health problems often find they are unable to be compassionate towards themselves because they feel under threat. This therapeutic approach aims to deal with feelings such as guilt, self-criticism, anxiety and shame using compassion techniques. 


Since qualifying, I have completed many cognitive behavioural theray (CBT) training days which enable me to integrate CBT techniques into our sessions. 

Transactional Analysis

I have trained in TA 101. Transactional analysis examines how we express our personality through interactions and behaviours. It helps us to understand our relationships with others.  

Approach, ethics & contract


I offer a non-judgmental, flexible approach and can work integratively to help you achieve your goals. We will use our relationship to tackle feelings of distress to help you regulate your emotions between sessions. Sessions are in Harborne, Bromsgrove or at The Priory Wellbeing Centre Birmingham. I am fully accredited and registered with insurance companies so I am able to see those with medical insurance privately.


As I initially trained in psychology, I am registered with the British Psychological Society. My masters was British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy approved so I am also registered and accredited with the BACP. Since training in EMDR, I am also a member of the EMDR Association. These registering bodies require me to follow strict ethical boundaries to ensure client safety. 


We will create a contract together during the initial assessment; this will include what is expected from both of us during sessions and goal setting. This may include you completing homework between sessions to ensure we are on the right track to achieving your goals. Therapy is not a 24 hour risk management service so if this is a requirement, please contact your local GP.
